If you are look­ing for the best best Tem­pura in Japan, there are a few. But Yotaro is not an ordi­nary Tem­pura estab­lish­ment. Already in it’s 27th year, it has yet to change the menu. There is no menu and the mix, the order of serv­ing and qual­ity has not changed. I can attest to that since I have been com­ing here for almost 15 years.

Yotaro starts you out with this raw beef sushi. It is already spiced with fish broth based Shoyu sauce. You want to eat 30 of these things when you try the 1st bite.

Then they throw you another curve­ball. This is deep fried bread with shrimp paste inside. It gets in you pace with the clean­ness of the oil he uses

Then there is this fish rice, for­get what it looks like. It is just heaven.

The bat­ter they use is a mys­tery to me. How do they get it so thin?  The feel­ing in the mouth of these tem­pura is just heav­enly and I have not been able to find some­one who can make the bat­ter so thin and void of the oili­ness asso­ci­ated with Tem­pura. Of course if you are just vis­it­ing here and tried an oily tem­pura, you missed out on the real art of Japan­ese Tem­pura.  Leave me some Com­ments if you go here.
