If you are looking for the best best Tempura in Japan, there are a few. But Yotaro is not an ordinary Tempura establishment. Already in it’s 27th year, it has yet to change the menu. There is no menu and the mix, the order of serving and quality has not changed. I can attest to that since I have been coming here for almost 15 years.

Yotaro starts you out with this raw beef sushi. It is already spiced with fish broth based Shoyu sauce. You want to eat 30 of these things when you try the 1st bite.

Then they throw you another curveball. This is deep fried bread with shrimp paste inside. It gets in you pace with the cleanness of the oil he uses

Then there is this fish rice, forget what it looks like. It is just heaven.
The batter they use is a mystery to me. How do they get it so thin? The feeling in the mouth of these tempura is just heavenly and I have not been able to find someone who can make the batter so thin and void of the oiliness associated with Tempura. Of course if you are just visiting here and tried an oily tempura, you missed out on the real art of Japanese Tempura. Leave me some Comments if you go here.
