Danny Choo came to visit me today, drag­ging along Ken and NHK doc­u­men­tary crew to shoot “Life of Danny Choo” doc­u­men­tary. We showed him some of the stuff we had and the head­phone that will change your life, an Atomic Floyd.

今日はダニーさんがNHKドキュメンタリーを連れて私のインタビューと会社の取材に来ました。日本に居る外国人オタクのドキュメンタリーを制作するそうです。私もCNET ASIAの記者になったので、近いうち外国人から見た日本のオタクカルチャーを題材にした作品”dot akihabara”を公開するつもりです。お楽しみに。本文書はその文面のプロローグです。

NHK is doing a doc­u­men­tary on Aki­habara, and how it is viewed and lived thru one for­eigner, Danny Choo. It will only be broad­cast over­seas by NHK World broad­cast. As Danny is a big Ota­cool celebrity over­seas, I am sure it will be a cool show to watch for over­seas Ota­cools. Then I am also being filmed on the 11th, from TV Tokyo to be aired in Japan. It will be about cars and twit­ter and iPhone. Should be a lot of fun, got my hair all blonded out for this occasion.

I will be spend­ing time on my own, inter­view­ing Ota­cool peo­ple here in Japan for a few arti­cles I plan to write.

Otaku cul­ture is the most diverse and never well under­stood phe­nom­ena because it morphs so much and  new branches of Otaku sprout out and change. Otaku in Japan is com­pro­mised of RULES. If you do not fit into these rules and habits, you bet­ter go out and find a new faction.

The whole Otaku cul­ture in Japan had changed dras­ti­cally with the chang­ing of Akibarara to a mod­ern tran­sit hub sta­tion shop­ping mini city, with still a huge shops spe­cial­iz­ing in every thing dig­i­tal. DIg­i­tal con­tents, dig­i­tal hard­ware and so on.…. to be continued…
